The Chinese Communist Party (some years ago) disabled downvote counts on all Chinese social media platforms. The Communist Party saw it as a subtle form of protest. If individual citizens can see the multitudes of people that are just as discontent as they are about something, they become embolded to challenge authority on that issue. Banning dislike counts keeps “the peasants” in line. isolated from one another. alone in their discontent.
