At the start of the 20th century, an Argentinian geologist found (against his own beliefs) evidence of human (NOT prehuman) civilization dating back 3 million years.
This book (and Archaeology itself apparently) is full of case-after-case of anomalous findings like this. Many of them are evidentially solid. Repeatedly challenged and re-tested over the decades but remain standing. So instead, these findings are just sidelined, hidden, or ignored.
